My Education Philosophy

My educational philosophy embodies the belief that all students are capable of learning at high levels.  Educators must use diverse processes to reach each of them.  All students do not learn at the same rate, but with diverse processes, high-level learning is possible.  I believe teachers who only use one method to teach are in desperate need of pedagogic support. Obviously, they are not reaching all of their students because we know that not all students learn the same way.  I believe that educators are morally obligated to enter the classroom with only the highest of expectations for each student. Therefore, teach students the way they learn and provide support.

Functioning in the real world is a necessity for students; this requires academic knowledge and social skills. Education is not solely academic; the teacher must also educate students mentally by teaching them the skills needed to solve problems, communicate, and work productively with others.  Students should be perceived as individuals who can contribute to the classroom, sharing, and gaining knowledge from the teacher, experiences, and each other.

We created COREgistics, LLC for the purpose of informing leadership, developing teachers, and ensuring high-level learning for students. We leverage our experience of district and building-level leadership coupled with decades of teaching experiences with one of the nation’s most at-risk and low performing students. We collaboratively developed and initiated a comprehensive academic plan that addresses teaching and learning for all students. We built our practices on proven strategies and processes to stimulate pedagogic and academic growth for all stakeholders.

My Education Philosophy

Education is an experience of knowledge and a journey to understanding. It is the educator’s responsibility to provide the environment, foundation, and opportunity for each student to be the best version of themselves. Education is not cookie cutter strategies and compliance. It is an intentional path with strategic planning. The focus should be on the REAL work.

We must teach to the whole child, not just the mind. Educators are tasked with making the most of every teachable moment. It should be our mission to tend to the mind, body, and spirit of every child that crosses our path. This is our charge as instructional leaders and what makes us accountable as we teach every child and ensure their academic and social success.

As a life-long learner, I believe you are not too young or old to learn something new. The most important things that will ensure ALL students CAN and WILL learn is to figure out: how they learn, why they need the information, and identify their gaps so we can fill them. We enter to learn and exit to serve; and by serve, I mean teach and lead.
